Position Summary:

The Spear Group is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Scheduler to support construction projects through lean planning and scheduling practices. This full-time, on-site role based in Holly Springs, NC, plays a key part in maintaining consistent work rhythms, optimizing workflow, and ensuring coordination across all project phases and trades.

The ideal candidate will have over a decade of construction scheduling experience, a deep understanding of lean construction methodologies such as takt planning and pull planning, and strong facilitation and communication skills. This role requires hands-on experience with industry-standard scheduling software and the ability to collaborate closely with field teams, stakeholders, and trade partners to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

Lean Scheduling & Planning

  • Develop and maintain construction schedules using takt time to create consistent work rhythms across phases and trades.
  • Facilitate pull planning sessions with subcontractors and project teams to collaboratively define task sequences and constraints.
  • Translate master schedules into phase plans and weekly work plans aligned with lean principles.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules based on field conditions, material availability, and trade readiness.

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with superintendents, foremen, and trade partners to ensure schedule alignment and commitment.
  • Lead weekly schedule reviews and daily huddles to track progress and resolve constraints.
  • Communicate schedule updates and impacts to stakeholders, including clients and consultants.

Workflow Optimization

  • Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improving flow and reducing variability.
  • Support Last Planner® System implementation and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintain visual planning boards and digital tools to enhance transparency and accountability.

Tools & Technology

  • Use scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Lean scheduling platforms (e.g., Touchplan, VisiLean).

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related
  • 10+ years of experience in construction scheduling (preferably large-scale projects)
  • Strong knowledge of lean construction, takt planning, and pull planning
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in scheduling and collaboration software
